Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam emphasized that the government’s dedication to developing an efficient railway network extends beyond transportation. He stated, “It is about fostering economic growth, creating jobs, and enhancing connectivity throughout our nation.”
During his presentation of the mid-year budget review in Parliament on Tuesday, July 23, Dr. Adam announced that the Nsawam–Accra–Tema railway line is now completed and operational. He also highlighted the near-completion of the iconic Tema to Mpakadan railway line, stating, “The construction of the iconic Tema to Mpakadan railway line is 99 percent complete and is expected to be fully completed this year.”
Dr. Adam also provided updates on other railway projects, noting that the construction of the Kojokrom-Manso section is on track to be finished by the end of 2024. Additionally, he said, “The Manso–Huni Valley, which includes the extension of the line into the Takoradi Port, is expected to be completed by May 2026.”
The minister further stressed the government’s resolve to enhance the country’s road infrastructure through the construction of new roads and the upgrading and maintenance of existing ones. He mentioned that the rehabilitation and maintenance of road infrastructure are progressing at various stages nationwide.
