A huge fire has ripped through some parts of popular Kumasi Central Market Good Friday night.

Our correspondent reports the fire started around a location near a popular pharmaceutical company in the Dr Mensah enclave.

The cause of the fire is not readily known but reports suggests firefighters are at the scene to douse the flames.

It is estimated that properties amounting to thousands of Ghana cedis have been lost.

In October 2018, about 50 stalls were razed down at French line, an area within the Kumasi Central Market in the Ashanti region.

Corn mill machines, bags of beans, bags of pepper, rubbers, clothes, earrings, and others were burnt in the inferno. A traditional cuisine restaurant and drinking bar were also gutted by the fire.
