Fire guts SIMMS Senior High School boys’ dormitory

A fire engulfed the boys’ dormitory at SIMMS Senior High School in the Kwabre East Municipality of the Ashanti Region on Friday afternoon.

The blaze rapidly spread through three rooms, causing extensive damage to the students’ belongings and prompting an urgent evacuation. Firefighters swiftly arrived at the scene to combat the fire. The exact cause of the inferno remains undetermined.

Educational authorities have yet to make a decision regarding the affected students. The Kwabre East Municipal Fire Commander, DO3 Akua Brago, has confirmed the launch of an investigation into the incident.

“We received a distress call around 11:40 am about a fire outbreak in the school. Our men were dispatched to the scene and saw that the fire was well alight. Now I can say the fire has been controlled and investigations would be launched to ascertain the cause”, Brago said.
