Two persons have tested positive for Covid-19 in the Offinso South Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
Municipal Director of Health, Mariam Andrea Nti, confirmed the development to reporters in an interview.
She mentioned that the two patients were part of 21 suspected victims whose samples were sent for testing at Kumasi Center for Collaborative Research on Friday after developing Covid-19 symptoms.
The two, who have no travel history, have since been isolated and being managed by medics.
“So far 21 samples had been submitted to KCCR and two of them returned positive,” said the Municipal Health Director, adding that: “They’re being managed in Kumasi.”
The figure is part of the total caseload in the Ashanti Region which currently stands at 1,799.
Madam Nti wants residents in the Municipality to observe the Covid-19 safety measures to stay safe.
Ghana’s Covid-19 caseload
Ghana has so far reported 10, 358 Covid-19 cases as of Thursday, June 11, 2020.
The country’s capital, Accra still leads with over 6,000 cases. The country has also recorded 48 deaths with over 3000 recoveries.
