Assin Central MP and New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential hopeful Kennedy Agyapong has alleged that he was approached by top party stalwarts with an offer to become Vice President Bawumia’s running mate, which he declined, citing an attempted bribe.

“We need a vice president with a vision, that is why they are begging me to be vice president, but I know the candidate cannot win. I will not go and disgrace myself”, Ken Agyapong stated. “I am here for you [delegates] and that is why I have rejected offers to step down and become Bawumia’s running mate. There is no way I will step down”.

These allegations were made during an event held at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi on Saturday (30 September) where Mr. Agyapong’s supporters organized a street walk. He told the gathering that he is the best candidate to lead the NPP to retain power ahead of the 2024 polls.

“I have rejected these offers for the love of the NPP and Ghana…And I urge you all to vote for me on November 4. I am a businessman, give me the opportunity and I will run Ghana like my business”, he said.

Hundreds of party supporters joined the street walk held in the Ashanti Regional capital dubbed ‘Showdown Walk’. Known party stalwarts who were present took turns to address the supporters in that mammoth rally.
