Ghanaian youngster Eric Boakye excelled in the Slovenia top – flight on Saturday evening as his side NK Olimpija Ljubljana run riot against NK Tabor.
The 20-year-old Ghanaian versatile defender saw full 90 minutes as Slovenia league leaders Olimpija won 3-0 on the road to open a five points gap at the top of the table after 26 games.
Luka Melano broke the deadlock from the spot 29 minutes into the afternoon’s encounter to hand the away team the advantage going into the break.
The visitors upped their game after the recess and got their reward four minutes after the hour mark through Enrik Ostrc’s strike to give the leaders a breathing space.
At 2-0 with few minutes to fill time Melano scored the third goal which secured the all important three points for the Green and Whites to cruise to a 3-0 away win which could prove vital to their title ambitions.
Boakye has two goals and three assists this term to his credit in the Slovenia top – flight for Olimpija who are on course to win the Prva Liga.
