Former Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Officer, Nana Yaw Amponsah, is reportedly in stable condition and gradually recovering after being poisoned at a friend’s party in Tarkwa over the weekend.

Wontumi Sports Presenter Kwame Dela Fishbone reported that the well-known football administrator experienced the unfortunate incident while attending a friend’s gathering in Tarkwa. According to Dela, Nana Yaw Amponsah was scheduled to leave Ghana on Wednesday for business purposes but was instead admitted to a hospital due to his condition.

Dela shared the news on Wontumi TV, stating that Nana Yaw Amponsah did not disclose the specific health facility where he was being treated. Additionally, no suspects have been identified, and the exact circumstances surrounding the poisoning remain unclear.

Nana Yaw Amponsah served as the CEO of Asante Kotoko from August 2020 to August 2023, during which the club secured their record 24th league title in the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season. In January 2024, he took on the role of CEO at Moldovan top-flight side FC Petrocub Hincesti but left the position in July of the same year after six months.
