Sedina Christine Tamakloe Attionu, the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MASLOC, and Daniel Axim, the interdicted Head of Operations, have been sentenced to a total of 15 years in prison.
Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe handed down a 10-year sentence to Mrs. Sedina Tamakloe Attionu and a five-year sentence to Daniel Axim. The court also imposed fines on both convicts.
The judgment came after they were found guilty on all 78 counts, including causing financial loss to the Republic, by the Financial and Economic Division of the High Court presided over by Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe.
The charges ranged from conspiracy to steal, stealing, causing financial loss to the state, to money laundering, and contravention of the Public Procurement Act.
It is reported that the judge questioned why the state had not pursued extradition for the first accused person, who was considered the main beneficiary of the crime.
