A deadly attack at Pai Katanga in Ghana’s Oti Region has left four persons dead, local media reported Saturday.

The victims reportedly died at the scene where a funeral and a coronation of a chief were ongoing at about 13:00hrs local time.

Three others, including a chief —who survived severe gunshot wounds are battling life-threatening conditions at the Worawora Government Hospital.

It is unclear what sparked the shooting.

Krachi East Police Commander Supt Samuel Aboagye said the incident was a targeted attack.

“This happened in a particular area and not the whole of Katanga. As I speak we have deployed our men to maintain calm”, Superintendent Aboagye told Accra-based Starr FM.

It is gathered that residents are living in fear as they point to planned further attacks.
