The Ghana Airports Company has announced some restrictions at the newly constructed Terminal 3 departure hall of the Kotoka International Airport.
The move is in respect of safety and security concerns raised by the public.
According to the Airport Company, some persons have recently been identified as using the Terminal 3 as a thoroughfare and abusing the Free WIFI at the facility; using it for downloads and upload of files.
The development sometimes makes the facility crowded with people who have no business at the airport.
The notice sighted by DailyMailGH.com reads: “Restricted access departure hall; The General Public is hereby advised that in the interest of safety and security, access into terminal 3 departure hall will henceforth be restricted to passengers, their escort and persons intending to do Airport Business only.”
Recently the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority commenced an investigation into some reported extortion of money on passengers at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).
The authority described the alleged acts as highly unprofessional, unethical and unacceptable.
According the Airport Company, this is among some of the measures it is taking to sanitize the environment.
