The Electoral Commission (EC) has issued a stern warning to political party supporters, urging them to refrain from gathering at the National Collation Centre in Accra.
This statement comes in response to a recent assembly of supporters from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the EC’s regional collation centre in Accra.
Speaking to journalists on December 9, Deputy EC Commissioner Samuel Tettey emphasized the importance of maintaining order and respecting the electoral process. He called on all parties to exercise restraint.
“There’s no need for supporters of the political parties to besiege the National Collation Centre. This is illegal and unwarranted,” he stated.
Mr. Tettey also announced that the declaration of both presidential and parliamentary results would take place at 4:30 PM. He added, “The National Collation Centre should be visited by only people with accreditation; all others can watch live the declaration of results on TV by 4:30 pm.”
The EC’s reminder highlights the need for accredited individuals to adhere to the established procedures while allowing the public to stay informed through live broadcasts.
