The international friendly match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Black Stars of Ghana ended with a 2-1 victory for Nigeria on Friday, held at the Grande de Stade Marrakech in Morocco.
The match began with an energetic start from Nigeria, but they soon settled into controlling the pace of the game. Despite both teams displaying end-to-end action in the initial 30 minutes, it took until the 38th minute for the first goal to materialize.
Nigeria was awarded a penalty kick, and striker Cyriel Dessers confidently converted it, sending Ghana goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi the wrong way.
With Nigeria leading 1-0 at halftime, the Black Stars faced further adversity in the 56th minute when defender Jerome Opoku received a red card, leaving Ghana to play with only 10 men for the remainder of the game.
As the match progressed, Nigeria extended their lead in the 83rd minute with a goal from Ademola Lookman, putting them 2-0 ahead.
Despite the odds stacked against them, the Black Stars showed resilience, and in injury time, Jordan Ayew successfully converted a penalty kick, securing a consolation goal for Ghana.
However, it was too late to alter the outcome, and the match concluded with a 2-1 victory for Nigeria at full-time.
Following this defeat, the Black Stars will now turn their attention to their upcoming fixture against Uganda on March 26.
