In a bid to bounce back from their recent defeat to Nigeria, Ghana faced off against Uganda in another international friendly at the Grande Stade Marrakech in Morocco. Head coach Otto Addo, in his return to the Black Stars, was still in search of his first victory as they settled for a 2-2 draw against the Cranes.

Addo made five changes to the lineup that suffered defeat against Nigeria, handing full debuts to Ebenezer Annan and Francis Abu, while Joseph Wollacott took up the goalkeeper position.

The Black Stars took an early lead in the game when central defender Jerome Opoku scored his first international goal with a header from a corner kick, assisted by captain Jordan Ayew. However, Uganda leveled the score in the 23rd minute with a penalty confidently converted by Steven Dese Mukwala of Asante Kotoko.

Ghana quickly regained the lead with Jordan Ayew converting from the penalty spot. However, Uganda managed to equalize once again in the 82nd minute when substitute Muhammad Shaban found the net from close range.

Ghana’s challenges were further compounded when Mohammed Salisu received a red card in the latter stages of the match, leaving them with ten men. The draw extends Ghana’s winless streak to seven matches across all competitions, consisting of four draws and three defeats.

Looking ahead, Ghana will face Mali and the Central African Republic in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers during the next international break in June.
