Ghana arrests 21 suspected LGBTQIs

Ghanaian police have arrested 21 persons suspected to be lesbians, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex (LGBTQI) in the Volta Region, 158-kilometer drive from the capital Accra.

The suspects were at a conference when the police raided the venue, a statement said.

They consist 16 females and five males.

A court remanded them on Friday after they were charged “for unlawful assembly.” The case has been adjourned to 4 June 2021.
