Ghanaian giant Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC recorded their first win of the season on Wednesday afternoon with a slim win over Nsoatreman FC.
The Reds beat the newly promoted team 2-1 to grab their first win of the season following a 1-1 stalemate at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi against arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak SC.
Kotoko, after elimination from the CAF Champions League prelims against Burkina Faso side Racing Club de Kadiogo needed to kick start the season on a brighter note.
They scored the opening goal of the match on the 13th minute when Stephen Amankonah scored from the spot after he was fouled in the box.
Ugandan striker Steven Mukwala was presented with two great opportunities but the forward failed to take advantage as the first half after ended 1-0.
Just one minute into the second half of the match, youngster Isaac Oppong scored a beautiful goal on the 46 minute mark to make it 2-0.
Philip Ofori scored a consolation goal for the away team but Kotoko held on to the lead to win their first game of the season.
Kotoko will face city rivals Kumasi King Faisal FC on Sunday after at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
