Ghana Premier League defending champions Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC suffered another defeat on the road in Dawu at the Theater of Dreams against Dreams FC.

The Green and Whites lads defeated the Porcupine Warriors at home to move up on the league table in their week 17 clash in Dawu on Sunday afternoon to end their three games winless run.

Both teams showed great intent right from the beginning of the match and gave a very good account of themselves in the opening minutes of the match.

Dreams FC, the home, struck first when Gael Aholou Avocevou connected beautifully inside the six yards box to put the hosts 1-0 up after 14 minutes with a beautiful volley following a free-kick.

Kotoko pushed harder for the equalizer in the first half but failed to make use of the few chances that came their way as they returned to the dressing room a goal down.

On the hour mark, Agyenim Boateng Mensah scored the insurance goal for the home team to make it 2-0 after an hour of football at the theater of Dreams.

Kotoko pushed and pushed but couldn’t even get a consolation due to the brilliance of the home team’s goalkeeper reflexes and poor finishing by their attackers.

The game ended in an entertaining 2-0 win to Dreams FC.

This is the fourth away defeat of the season so far in the first round of the 2022-23 Ghana Premier League season for the Reds which is worst than the whole 2021-22 Season.

Kotoko will face Nsoatreman United FC in the first game of the 2022-23 Ghana Premier League second round next weekend.
