In a highly anticipated clash on Saturday, Medeama and Asante Kotoko faced off in matchday 28 of the Ghana Premier League at the Akoon Community Park in Tarkwa.

Despite having the home advantage, Medeama couldn’t capitalize on their position as the match ended in a tightly contested draw.

The visitors, Asante Kotoko, made an early breakthrough with Uganda international Steven Mukwala scoring in the 22nd minute, giving them a lead going into halftime.

However, Medeama displayed resilience in the second half, with former Ghana Premier League top scorer Diawisie Taylor leveling the score with a penalty in the 56th minute.

With no further goals in the remaining time, the game concluded with both teams settling for a 1-1 draw.

Asante Kotoko had hoped for a win to boost their position in the league standings, but Medeama proved to be a tough opponent, forcing them to share points.

The draw meant that Medeama couldn’t recover from their previous defeat against Berekum Chelsea.

Despite their efforts, Asante Kotoko couldn’t secure the victory they desired in the crucial encounter.

Currently, the reigning Ghana Premier League champions, Medeama, hold the 7th position in the league standings with 40 points from 27 matches played.

On the other hand, Asante Kotoko sits in the 11th position on the table, having accumulated 37 points after 27 matches in the season.
