Ghana’s Mohammed Kudus has won the 2023/24 UEFA Europa League Goal of the Season award for his stunning strike against Freiburg.
The announcement was made by the official UEFA account on Wednesday afternoon, with the goal being shared on social media and praised as “insane.”
The goal, which quickly went viral, showcased the 23-year-old’s incredible skill. With the Hammers leading 3-0, the Black Stars’ attacking midfielder picked up the ball in his own half and embarked on a remarkable solo run reminiscent of Lionel Messi. He dribbled past three Freiburg players before powerfully finishing into the net.
Kudus added to his tally shortly after, scoring a second goal by driving the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
Kudus concluded his Europa League campaign with five goals in nine appearances, consistently delivering impressive performances. WhoScored, known for their statistical analyses, also named his goal as the Europa League Goal of the Season.
Overall, Mohammed Kudus has had an outstanding debut season with West Ham, scoring 14 goals across all competitions.
