Ghana: Teachers in state-run colleges of education declare indefinite strike

The strike is in response to several efforts by the workers to get the allowances paid

Teachers across all 46 Ghanaian public Colleges of Education have declared an indefinite strike effective Thursday, 6 January 2022.

In a statement issued shortly after an emergency meeting Tuesday, the leadership Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) which is leading the charge said, “the National Council unanimously agreed to embark on an indefinite strike across all 46 Ghanaian public Colleges of Education effective Thursday, 6 January 2022.”

The statement added that CETAG’s National Council has resolved to follow through with its decision to withdraw teaching duties.
