Ghana will soon have a Neurosurgical Hospital for the treatment of brain-related diseases like cerebral palsy and improve neurological healthcare Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has said.
Dr Bawumia made the disclosure in a Facebook post after he received at the Jubilee House, President of the Chinese Neurosurgical Board Prof. Ling Feng who was accompanied by Ghana’s Ambassador to China and Dr. Isabella Opoku a Ghanaian Resident Neurosurgeon and Philanthropist discussion in that field.
Dr Bawumia said Prof Feng and her team are in Ghana to work on the establishment of a Neurosurgical Hospital.
The hospital, once completed, will be the first of its kind in West Africa.
“Unfortunately, advanced neurological treatments are not available in West Africa because of the absence of such state-of-the-art facilities,” Dr Bawumia stated adding that “This will be good for Ghana and we are going to move quickly to ensure the construction and operation of this neuroscience hospital.”
