A Ghanaian national Kwaku Bright has been slapped with a 27-month jail term in the U.S for using the social security number of an American citizen to gain employment.

The 58-year-old has been using the social security number since he entered the US in 2007, DailyMailGh.com understands. A U.S attorney Joe Kelly on Monday announced the Ghanaian used the identity of the American citizen to receive loans, apply for a passport and to work there.

Upon release, Bright will be on a three-year term of supervision and must comply with all rules and regulations of the Bureau of Immigrations and Customs Enforcement.

He also faces deportation after serving his prison term and will only be accepted to enter the US with permission.
