Chester City boss Bernard Morley has revealed that Dutch-born Ghanaian striker Akwasi Asante is back to training after a long lay off.

Asante has not played for the National League side for several months but he is back to full fitness and had begun training.

“Asante is back in training, he did a double shift and also sprinting,” Morley told Cheshire Live.

“He trained on Monday also but we did not want to rush him in our friendly game with it being a hamstring injury. I think it was a good decision as he will have been tempted to match the work rate of the lads.

“He believes in his own mind, because he is a confident lad. He has a string mentality and will walk back into the team,” he added.

Asante, 26, has played for Birmingham City,  Shwresbury Town,  Solihul Moor and a host of other clubs.
