Black Stars captain Andre Ayew has been made the assistant captain of Swansea City.

Coach Steve Cooper confirmed the new development to the British media after the decision was made by the club. The Swansea City gaffer heaped praises on the Ghanaian workaholic midfielder.

“Andre is a senior figure and a very positive influence around the group,” said Cooper.

“We are very lucky, we have players like Wayne Routledge, Nathan Dyer and Kyle Naughton too”, he noted.

According to the manager, Andre is a deserving deputy captain of the team due to his commitment and experience.

“We know there is a bit of a status to being captain or vice-captain, but we do have senior figures in the squad”, Cooper stated.

On the other hand, the Swansea City coach sees the Ghanaian as a perfect choice for the role.

“Andre has got the attributes to lead, and he does it well through good and bad moments and long may that continue,” he added. “It’s good for Matt as well to have players like Andre, Wayne and Nathan around him”.
