Ghana’s Black Meteors coach Ibrahim Tanko names 29-Man provisional squad for CAF U-23 Championship

Head coach for Ghana’s Olympic team Ibrahim Tanko has named a 29-man provisional squad for the upcoming 2023 CAF U-23 Championship in Morocco this month.

The gaffer has called FC Nordsjaelland attacker Ernest Nuamah who recently received his maiden Black Stars call-up to join the team after the Madagascar game to help the Meteors secure qualification to the 2024 Summer Olympics games in France, Paris

Black Stars forward Kamaldeen who’s part of the Black Stars team for the round of five game of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar will join the Black Meteors after the match in Antananarivo on June 18.

 

German-based attacker Ransford Yeboah Königsdörffer has also been handed a call-up by the coach though he’s part of the Stars team.

The finalists and third-place playoff winner of this tournament will qualify for the 2024 Summer Olympics men’s football tournament in Paris while the 4th-placed team will play the AFC –CAF playoff to decide the final slot at the Olympics.

Black Meteors are in the same group as hosts Morocco, Guinea and Congo Brazzaville in Group A in a tournament that starts on 24th June.

 

Ghana will start their tournament with a game against Congo on June 25, before battling hosts Morocco and Guinea on June 27 and June 30 for a place in the semi-final.

 

The 2023 TotalEnergies U-23 Africa Cup of Nations will be staged in Morocco between June 24 and July 8, 2023.
