French Ligue 1 side AJ Auxerre has signed Ghanaian left-back Gideon Mensah on their return to the top-flight, Dailymailgh.com understands.

The Ghanaian has passed his mandatory medical test according to reports and has signed a three-year contract today.

The 24-year-old was courted by clubs in Europe including England championship teams Reading FC, Preston North End FC and Turkish Super Lig Gaziantepspor.

He spent the 2021-22 season on loan at FC Girondins Bordeaux from Austrian Típico Bundesliga giant RB Salzburg and suffered relegation with the club.

He played a big role in Ghana’s Black Stars Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification when they beat the Super Eagles of Nigeria to the ticket.

His deal is expected to be announced by the Sky Blue and Whites outfit by the close of the week.
