Ghana’s president Akufo-Addo has ordered the Inspector General of Police, Mr. David Asante-Apeatu, to proceed on leave, with immediate effect, a statement from the presidency said.
He is due to retire from the Ghana Police Service on Wednesday, 14th August, 2019.
“The President thanked him for his many years of service to the country, and wished him well in his retirement,” director of communication Eugene Arhin said in the statement.
President Akufo-Addo has asked the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mr. James Oppong-Boanuh, to act as IGP until a substantive IGP is appointed in accordance with the Constitution.
