Black Stars marksman Jordan Ayew was on the score sheet for Crystal Palace in the English Premier League on Sunday.
The prolific Ghanaian attacker got his fourth goal of the season in the Premier League for Roy Hodgson’s side as they came back from a two-goal deficit to draw 2-2 at the Emirates Stadium against Arsenal.
Despite Palace finding themselves 2-0 down after just nine minutes, it was the away team that created the first chance of the game inside four minutes with Andros Townsend putting in a fine cross which was met at the edge of the box by James MacArthur, whose header was saved by Arsenal’s goal keeper Bend Leno.
Greece international defender and former Borussia Dortmund player, Sokrates Papastathopoulous gave the Gunners a seventh minute lead before his defensive partner David Luiz, adding to Arsenal’s tally two minutes later.
Palace fought really hard and got one back just after the hour mark when captain Luka Milivojevic converted from the spot kick to keep Palace in the game.
The first half ended 2-1 in favour of the home team.
After the recess, Palace pushed for the equalizer and got their reward for their persistent performance as midfielder James MacArthur broke free on the left wing to swing in a beautiful cross which was met by the unmarked Ghanaian striker Ayew who made no mistake in heading home the equalizer from close range in the 52nd minutes of the game to make the score 2-2.
Arsenal could have stolen all three points with seven minutes left on the clock when Greek defender Papastathopoulous thought he had scored his second of the game only for VAR to rule for an earlier infringement.
The game ended 2-2 with both teams settling for a point each in the Sunday afternoon’s frenetic encounter.
