Ghana’s Opoku close to joining Sparta Rotherdam

Ghanaian-born Dutch Jonathan Opoku is on the verge of signing for Sparta Rotherdam in The Netherlands.

The 30-year-old forward scored 11 goals and provided nine assists this term for Dutch top-flight VVV Venlo before the suspension of the Dutch Eredivisie due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Opoko whose contract with the Yellow and Blacks Army ends on June 30, 2020 has declined an offer to extend his stay with his current employers.

The Dutch of Ghanaian descent has been at Venlo for the past five years aiding their promotion back to the Eredivisie in 2019.

Clubs like Celtic FC and Rangers FC in the UK who play in the Scottish Premiership are also after the signature of the experienced Ghanaian.
