Ghanaian midfielder Leonard Owusu scored the winning penalty at the Yud-Alef Stadium as Ashdod FC defeated Bnei Jerusalem 4-2 to clinch the Toto Cup fifth place after 120 minutes of action had ended 1-1.
Owusu was lively throughout the entire game and capped it off with a superb penalty as his side placed 5th in the special tournament which is played every year before the league begins.
Dor Elo gave Bnei Jersusalem the lead in the 16th minute before Ashdod equalized on the stroke of half time through Shlomi Yosef Azulay.
Owusu was the key man in midfield on the day with his intelligent passes and surging runs.
Ashdod will face Hapoel Hadera away in the league opener this weekend.
