English Premier League club Leicester City have officially signed Ghanaian winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku on a permanent deal from Sporting CP.
The undisclosed fee was agreed upon after the Foxes exercised a buy option in Fatawu’s contract with Sporting CP, securing all necessary clearances for the transfer.
At just 20 years old, the Ghanaian international made a significant impact during his loan stint at King Power Stadium last season. His impressive performances were key to Leicester City’s successful campaign, which saw them lift the Championship title and secure promotion to the Premier League.
In 43 appearances across various competitions last season, Fatawu showcased his talent with seven goals, including a remarkable hat-trick in a 5-0 victory over Southampton at Filbert Way.
To celebrate his permanent signing, Leicester City collaborated with local band and devoted fans, The Mercians. The Coalville-based musicians surprised Fatawu with a special rendition of the Blue Army’s signature chant during a ceremony at King Power Stadium.
