The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has strongly condemned the recent attack on United Television (UTV) and has called on the Ghana Police Service (GPS) to ensure the swift prosecution of the attackers.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the GJA expressed its concerns about the attack on the Accra-based private television station, during which about 30 NPP thugs, reportedly stormed the studio. While some of the assailants were arrested by the police, others managed to escape.

The GJA emphasized its expectation that the police will apprehend and prosecute the culprits promptly, much like the commendable handling of the case involving the attack on Dagbon FM in Tamale earlier this year.

The association also urged the government, non-government organizations (NGOs), civil society organizations (CSOs), the diplomatic community, international agencies, and all well-meaning Ghanaians and individuals of good conscience to unequivocally condemn this act of violence, as well as those behind it.
