Atiwa East MP and Deputy Finance Minister Abena Osei-Asare on Friday (4 August) donated over 1700 mathematical instruments and boxes of pens to BECE candidates across the constituency.
Madam Osei-Asare who made the presentation during a visit to the schools praised education authorities and teachers within the district for their unwavering commitment to supporting the candidates as they prepare for their first external exam.
She was hopeful that the provision of the mathematical sets and other support provided to the candidates throughout their three-year JHS education will inspire and motivate them to be successful in the BECE.
“Go all out and make us proud”, Abena said in a Facebook post hours after the tour. “Let me use this opportunity to express my gratitude to the Teachers and the Atiwa East Education Directorate for their unwavering support to both the students and myself.”
The lawmaker’s exceptional support in the form of infrastructure provision, and provision of stationery among others, to encourage teaching and learning, has made the Atiwa East District the top performer in the WAEC-supervised exams for two consecutive years, 2021 and 2022, in the entire Eastern Region.
An official from the Ghana Education Service in the District was thankful for the gesture and pledged to ensure an incident-free examination.
Some of the candidates indicated they have prepared adequately for the task ahead and are confident to excel in the exams.
