Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has called on the government to allocate more resources to revive Ghana Publishing Company Limited.
During a visit to the Manhyia Palace, Otumfuo highlighted the essential role of local publishing industries in preserving cultural heritage and boosting economic prosperity.
Once a thriving entity, Ghana Publishing Company Limited faced years of inactivity due to financial constraints. Efforts are now underway to restore its former status.
The Asantehene urged policymakers to implement supportive mechanisms to enhance the operational efficiency and sustainability of the company.
“We have left the company to collapse, but we can revive it, and I am hopeful you are making progress since you are a limited liability company,” he said. “This is an important company because it gazettes everything. If the government supports them with deliberate policies and some percentage of government resources, I believe it will help develop the company.”
David Asante, Managing Director of Ghana Publishing Company Limited, announced plans to digitalize operations.
“From here, we hope to open a couple of regional branches. We also intend to introduce electronic gazette to digitalize all the services of the company,” he stated.
In a step to enhance operations, the Ghana Publishing Company has opened an office in the Ashanti Region. Additionally, the company donated GHC100,000 to the Asantehene to support the Heal Komfo Anokye project.
