GPL: Hearts 2 – 2 Ashantigold – Phobians held at home

Accra Hearts of Oak drew their first match of the 2020-21 Ghana Premier League season at home to Obuasi Ashantigold SC on Tuesday evening with a 2 – 2 stalemate.

The visitors were very exciting to watch for the opening 20 minutes of the match and came close to taking the lead on two occasions but goalkeeper Richard Attah denied Yaw Annor’s bullet shot as Roland Amuzu missed a sitter.

Hearts also got their chance to go in front but striker, Obeng Junior missed a free header as he failed to convert a pinpoint cross from Congolese left-back Raddy Evouka.

Ten minutes later, Afriyie Barnieh capitalized on a lose ball when he easily dispossessed the left back to set up Obeng Junior who slotted home the opener for the home team.

After the recess, Ashantigold SC picked the pieces together and scored on the run of play when Appiah McCarthy released Yaw Annor on the wings whose effort found Hans Coffie who tapped in the equalizer from close range.

12 minutes to full, winger, Patrick Razak beautifully out witted marker and luanced a great cross from the the right side of attack and Obeng Junior was present to head home the second goal for the Rainbow Boys with his brace to restore thole hosts lead.

Deep into added time, Hans Coffie scored a header to break the hearts of Phobians fans as they came from behind twice to pick point away from home.

The game finished 2-2 to Accra Hearts of Oak drew with Ashantigold.

Ashantigold SC will on 29th come up against Burkina Faso side Salitas FC in the prelims of the 2020-21 CAF Confederation Cup.
