The 2019/20 Ghana Premier League calendar is at what, only a season or so ago, would have been the halfway stage.

With the inclusion of two more teams in the current format, however, the 15-game mark now reached doesn’t quite represent the mid-point yet (four clubs remain a matchday shy of that tally, note).

Still, the suspension of all football activities due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak presents a fine excuse to review the various clubs’ performances thus far.

Daily Mail GH starts with the leaders and reigning champions, Aduana Stars.

Aduana, when the league came to a halt weeks ago, were second on the table, two points behind Medeama. The latter’s six-point deduction for fielding an unqualified player against Great Olympics has helped the Dormaa-based outfit to the summit without kicking another ball, however, and it’s hard to argue that they don’t deserve the raise based on the overall course of their campaign.

Three straight wins got them off to a great start, and while they haven’t strung together as many victories since, the run of results has been decent enough to keep them going at a good pace. A technical switch hasn’t obstructed that march; if anything — with no loss in four games — Paa Kwesi Fabin’s appointment has only boosted Aduana’s credentials. Striker Yahaya Mohammed has been phenomenal, already on double digits in goals and earning himself a Black Stars call-up.

2. HIGH(S)

Aduana’s last away game saw them win at an unlikely venue, WAFA’s Sogakope. The Fire Boys have had bigger victories but, per weight, none feels as heavy.

3. LOW(S)

For a club that has always boasted strong defences, the 5-2 loss in Dansoman to a Liberty Professionals side that hasn’t been exactly formidable was quite chastening for Aduana. They have recovered, though, not losing since.
