A Chinese national has been shot in a daylight robbery attack at Atinga Junction in Kumasi.
The incident occurred on Tuesday at about 9 am – barely 24 hours after a similar incident led to the death of 36-year-old Maxwell Ahetor at Atonsu in the Asokwa Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The victim, 42-year-old Ting Tiant, is receiving treatment at the New Cross Hospital at Ahodwo, about 10 minutes drive from the crime scene.
A mobile money operator narrated to Dailymailgh.com that the victim had visited his shop to purchase top-up vouchers with some colleagues when he was attacked by some unknown gunmen who were on motorbikes.
The eyewitnesses say the gunmen, numbering four, also snatched a bag from the victim and sped off.
The vendor whose shop was visited by the Chinese national, Albert Ibrahim, said the gunmen sped off before they could make them out.
“When I got to my shop this morning, two Chinese men came to buy airtime from me. They asked for GHS100 worth of credit. While getting the airtime for him, a stranger appeared out of nowhere and snatched the bag from the Chinese man. Before the man could turn to make out who may have done that, the unknown gunmen shot him down. They quickly disappeared into thin air on the motorcycle.”
The police are yet to give official details on the matter although sources say the armed men bolted with cash of ¢4,100.
