Haruna Iddrisu, the Member of Parliament for Tamale South and former Minority Leader, has strongly criticized the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration, calling it the worst in the Fourth Republic. He attributes this judgment to significant economic difficulties caused by poor management and performance.
At the campaign launch for the Member of Parliament for Asawase in the Ashanti region, Iddrisu pledged that the NDC would work diligently to uncover and address any fraudulent activities by the New Patriotic Party, particularly in the Ashanti region. He stressed the importance of ensuring fair voting practices in the December elections to prevent any rigging.
Iddrisu is hopeful that the NDC will receive substantial support from the Ashanti region in the upcoming elections, citing dissatisfaction with the NPP’s performance in the area. He emphasized that the NDC needs just over 35% of the votes from the Ashanti region to secure victory.
He praised Muntaka Mohammed, the NDC’s candidate for the Asawase constituency, as a strong and effective representative. Iddrisu expressed confidence that Mohammed would continue to serve both the people of Ghana and the Muslim community well in Parliament.
Iddrisu also urged Ghanaians to re-elect President John Dramani Mahama for another term, promising that he would deliver positive results. He reiterated his view that the NPP represents the worst government in the history of the Fourth Republic.
“You saw the crowd this morning, and we are seeing the crowd here. I hear the NPP saying that Ashanti is for NPP. Ashanti is only for NPP if they are performing, if businesses are thriving, and if unemployment is low. Therefore, we are optimistic that Asanteman will support John Dramani Mahama and the NDC to win.”
He added, “We need just a little above 35% in the Ashanti region to declare John Dramani Mahama the winner of the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections. That is our aspiration, and we must work towards it. Hon. Muntaka Mohammed is your formidable representative in Parliament. He will continue to do good for the people of Ghana and serve the Muslim Ummah effectively.”
