‘Controversial’ Football Administrator, Alhaji Karim Grusah has slammed Asamoah Gyan for pushing for a spot in the Black Stars team for the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament.
The Ghana all time top scorer has revealed his desire to be included in the Ghana squad for upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament in Qatar later this year.
This pronouncement has raised concerns and mixed feelings among football enthusiasts and loving fans in the country with a divided attention and opinion.
Despite being Ghana’s all time top scorer and Africa’s top scorer at the World Cup, the King Faisal FC owner believes it will be disastrous to include the striker in the Black Stars squad.
According to him, Asamoah Gyan is not and can’t be like Roger Milla who was taken to the World Cup at the age of 42 by Cameroon.
He stated that, Gyan’s inclusion in the team would only breed problems at the Stars camp ahead of the tournament.
“If the coach invites him, there will be a problem. Baba Yara did not play at the World Cup. Osei Kofi did not play at the World Cup so Gyan should realize that he has done his part,” the King Faisal bankrolled said in an interview.
Alhaji Grusah added,“I’m against Asamoah Gyan playing at the World Cup because he claims we scored a soft goal against South Africa, if we hadn’t scored the soft goal, would we have qualified?” he quizzed.
“He can’t play at the World Cup. He can’t be like Roger Milla,”
Ghana are paired in Group H with Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea respectively and will begin their campaign against the Portuguese.
Gyan has scored six goals at the FIFA Mundial after making three consecutive appearances at the tournament between 2006 and 2014, helping Ghana reach the last 8 in 2010 in South Africa.
