AFC Ajax Amsterdam head coach Maurice Steijn is in love with Ghana star Kudus Mohammed who scored for the club in their 4-1 comeback win over Heracles Almelo on Saturday evening.

The manager has described the former Right to Dream Academy graduate as a jewel for the Dutch Eredivisie giant.

“I have read a lot of reports about Kudus this week but there is literally nothing right now that points to him leaving,” Steijn said after Kudus scored in season opener.

“I spoke to him this week and he is fully focused on Ajax. He is a jewel for Ajax”.

The Ghana midfielder opened his goal account for AFC Ajax Amsterdam on Saturday evening in the Dutch Eredivisie at home to Heracles Almelo.

The Red and Whites outfit came from a goal down to beat the visitors 4-1 at home in the first game of the 2023-24 Dutch top-flight league.

Kudus, 23, played full throttle for his team and dazzled for the home team who are sweating to keep the player at the club beyond this summer.

Mario Engels broke the deadlock of the match to put the visitors 1-0 up after five minutes inside additional time period of the opening 45 minutes of the match.

Just before the end of the first half, Jakov Medic found the back of the net for Ajax to restore parity before the interval.

Fifteen minutes away from the full time whistle, the Ghanaian international scored the second goal for the home team to go 2-1 up against the Black and Whites outfit.

Steven Bergwijn scored twice later on including a last-gasp spot kick to make the final score 4-1.
