The Accra High Court has reduced the bail condition for Kwabena Adu-Boahene, the embattled former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), from GHS120 million to GHS80 million.
His wife, Angela Adjei Boateng, however, continues to face bail set at GHS80 million, with two sureties required to be justified.
As part of the bail conditions, both individuals are required to report to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) three times a week. Additionally, their travel has been restricted, meaning they must seek express permission from EOCO before undertaking any trips.
The couple had been in custody following an EOCO-led investigation into allegations of embezzlement, fraud, and illicit financial transactions. Adu-Boahene, who served as NSB Director-General from 2017 until February 2025, is accused of diverting millions of Ghanaian cedis in state funds into personal accounts.
Reacting to the court’s ruling, the couple’s legal representative, Samuel Atta Akyea, expressed optimism about the revised bail conditions. “We believe that with the reduction in bail, my client will be able to meet the conditions successfully,” he stated.
