Director of Communications for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Richard Ahiagbah appears to have confirmed media reports that Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia was booed at Anlo in the Volta Region.
Dr. Bawumia who led a government delegation to the town to observe this year’s Hogbetsotso Festival on Saturday, November 5, was at the receiving end of jeers at the venue, when he took his turn to deliver a speech on behalf of the government.
He touted the achievements of the Akufo-Addo-led administration in the last six years. But the huge crowd appeared not convinced.
They booed, and shooed, amid chants of disapproval which nearly drowned the rest of his delivery as he shouted atop his voice, according to a JoyNews report.
But Mr. Ahiagba, who hails from the Volta Region is however unhappy after his attention was drawn to the development.
“I am saddened by my kinsmen hooting at DMB, at Hogbe, not only that I’m an NPP, but becos of the deafening silence of thought leaders at this poor conduct which is fast becoming the norm”, Ahiagba said in a tweet.
Supporting his point with footage from the ground he added, “We must deal with it b4 our politics turns into a shouting contest”.

The people of Anlo described this year’s Hogbetsotso as historic after the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, graced the occasion.
“His presence affirmed the bond of relationship between Anlos and Asantes”, said Togbi Sri III, the Paramount King of Anlo.
