President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has dismissed the “24-hour economy” proposal by National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Dramani Mahama, labeling it as unclear and lacking practical substance.

Speaking during his campaign tour of the Greater Accra Region, the President addressed religious and traditional leaders, as well as New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters in the Tema West constituency. He called on Ghanaians to reject Mahama in the upcoming presidential election scheduled for Saturday, December 7.

President Akufo-Addo criticized Mahama’s track record, suggesting that his tenure lacked the innovation and competence needed to tackle Ghana’s challenges. Instead, he urged voters to support Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, whom he described as the most qualified candidate to lead Ghana into the future.

“What is he [John Dramani Mahama] coming to do? 24-hour economy. You couldn’t keep the lights on in the four years in which you were in power for 12 hours a day,” the President remarked. “How are you going to run a 24-hour economy when 12 hours a day, you couldn’t keep the lights on? You couldn’t pay the teacher training allowance. You couldn’t pay nurses training allowance.”

President Akufo-Addo highlighted the NPP’s track record of effective governance and innovative policies, emphasizing that continuity under Bawumia would guarantee further development and progress for Ghana. He urged voters to look beyond rhetoric and focus on proven leadership.
