Former captain for Zambia national football team Christopher Katongo Christopher Katongo has paid a telling tribute to Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan on his official retirement.

He recounted his encounter with the former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations tournament when the Zambians won the trophy.

Kotongo urged the Ghana legend to bring his experience on the field to off the field after his retirement to help grow the game.

He wished the former Sunderland AFC, Al Ain and Stade de Rennes player the very best of luck in his new endeavors following his retirement from active football.

“I celebrate you brother. I know that you know the football journey continues off the pitch,” Katongo said, “Wishing you the best in your next chapter of your life away from active football Asamoah Gyan.”

Gyan announced his official retirement on Tuesday, June 20.
