A Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr Francis Asenso-Boakye, is urging the public to disregard media reports that he owes a group affiliated to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Local media reported that an NPP group known as Elephant Youth Association (OSONO) besieged Mr Asenso-Boakye’s Accra residence Wednesday to demand monies they claimed he owed them.
The young men also claimed Mr Asenso-Boakye has denied them financial assistance from the President Nana Akufo-Addo.
Commenting on the matter, Mr Boakye confirmed the incident but denied having an encounter with a group which is not known to the New Patriotic Party.
“I wish to state categorically that I do not owe any person or group of persons money. Neither has the President given me any money due a group of persons which I have withheld as alleged”, he wrote on Facebook.
He added: “It is a well orchestrated and vile attempts to cause disaffection and besmirch my reputation”.
He has since reported the matter to the police.
