Girondins Bordeaux defender Enock Kwateng has revealed he refused to play for the Black Stars of Ghana because he has his mind fixed on representing France.

The 23-year-old centre back hinted that he was approached by officials of Ghana to play for the Black Stars ahead of the just ended Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, but he rejected the offer.

“Ghana contacted me to play for them in the AFCON. This is the country of my parents but I always want to play for the team of France and I hope to find a place there,” Kwateng told Sud-Ouest.

Kwateng was part of the French Under-19 team which won the European championship in Germany in 2016.

He signed for Bordeaux this summer after an impressive 2018/2019 season with Nantes where he played 30 Ligue 1 games with an assist.
