Former Black Stars captain CK Akonnor has expressed his desire to be back on the touch lines as soon as possible after he terminated his contract with Asante Kotoko.
“I don’t intend to stay away for long but I need that club that’s ready to be a champion, with structures, that is ready to build with philosophy, club that we can earn CAF competition award,” he tweeted.Akonnor added:
“I want to work with teams from the Absa Premiership in South Africa, teams from Zambia premiership, the Tanzania league or a top team from North Africa.”
The former Ashgold SC and Hearts of Oak coach ended his three-year contract with the Porcupines after he was asked to step aside as the head coach and take a new role in the club as the technical director.
Akonnor during last week submitted all the properties owned by the Kumasi-based club in his possession to club officials after he rejected the offer to be the club’s new technical director.
Coach Akonnor guided Kotoko to victory in the tier 1 of the NC Special Cup Competition Against Karela United on penalties after 1-1 draw.
Kotoko qualified for the CAF Champions League with the win over Karela United in Kumasi with Akonnor as head coach at the time.
