Kayserispor attacker Asamoah Gyan has said he felt left out in the plans of the Black Stars coach during the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
“I realized I was never in Kwasi Appiah’s plan for the 2019 AFCON tournament,” Gyan told Accra-based Asempa FM.
Ahead of the tournament Gyan and Appiah were involved in a row over the captaincy position. The striker said the coach stripped him of the role due to external influence.
“I know the decision to take the captaincy from me was not a decision of the coach.
“I feel and I know there were influences on Kwesi Appiah from somewhere,” Gyan stated.
“He was heavily influenced. I know and I’m very certain this was not his decision. It was a decision taken by some people. I’m not a kid. I know,” Gyan added.
