Dr. George Akufo-Dampare, the Inspector General of Police, has promised the family of 24-year-old Loise Abena Koranteng a swift and thorough investigation into her tragic death at the CrisLord Palace Hotel in Takoradi.

Loise Abena Koranteng checked into the hotel on June 7, 2024, accompanied by her boss and a colleague. However, she was discovered lifeless in the hotel’s pool the following morning.

According to reports, the hotel’s CCTV cameras were non-operational during the week of the incident. Henry Yeleduor, the Western Regional Director of the Ghana Tourism Authority, has confirmed that his office is working alongside the police to uncover the circumstances surrounding her death.

In a statement released on Thursday, July 11, the Ghana Police Service explained that on July 10, IGP Dampare personally visited the family to assure them of a comprehensive investigation.

An autopsy performed by a pathologist at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital revealed that the cause of death was asphyxia due to severe pulmonary edema and drowning.

The police have committed to keeping the family informed of any new developments as their investigation progresses.
