The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary aspirant for Juaben in the Ashanti Region, Francis Owusu Akyaw, has pledged to complete all abandoned Astro Turf projects, including the Methodist Park, in the constituency before the 2024 polls.
This commitment is part of a significant investment aimed at nurturing talents within the area.
The lingering neglect of these projects left exposed to weather elements for over four years, has fueled discontent among constituents. Accusations of failure have been directed at sitting MP Ama Pomaa Boateng, despite multiple appeals to her office.
In an interview on ‘Good Morning Boss’ on Boss 93.7 FM, Owusu Akyaw, considered a frontrunner in the upcoming primaries, was concerned about the deteriorating state of the project, and reassured residents of the revitalization of all Astro Turf initiatives.
“I am passionate about sports”, Owusu Akyaw told the host Wofa Kofi Appiah. “We can use sports to unearth talents and I am prioritizing that, but I want to assure delegates that I will complete that astroturf at the Methodist Park before the 2024 polls.
“Not only the Methodist Park; even before that I had already completed that of the Bomfa town, but I know there are others which need attention including that of the Boamadumase, Adumasa and other zones. I want to assure delegates that I will complete all those projects when I am giving the nod to lead the constituents”, he further assured.
Political watchers have tipped Francis Owusu Akyaw to win the January 27 race. He has pledged to unite the party and appreciate the votes of the NPP ahead of the 2024 polls.
