Ghanaian forward Inaki Williams maintained his impressive form in La Liga, scoring twice to lead Athletic Bilbao to a commanding 4-1 victory over Espanyol on Saturday.
The Black Stars striker played a key role in the match, delivering a standout performance in the second half that helped secure the win for Bilbao at San Mamés Barria. His two goals came within just two minutes of each other, in the 28th and 30th minutes, boosting the home side’s dominance.
The scoring opened early for Athletic Bilbao when Spain international Daniel Vivian found the net in the 6th minute, assisted by Inaki’s younger brother, Nico Williams.
Although Espanyol managed to reduce the deficit in stoppage time with a direct free-kick from Álvaro Tejero, it wasn’t enough to challenge Bilbao’s commanding lead.
Inaki Williams was substituted in the 73rd minute, making way for Nico Serrano after his brace. The 30-year-old striker, who switched allegiance to represent Ghana in 2022, has been in excellent form for his club this season, with three goals and four assists in 10 La Liga matches.
However, despite his success at the club level, Inaki has struggled to replicate the same impact for the national team, scoring only one goal in over 17 appearances for Ghana.
